GOING GREEN – portway's journey towards sustainability
Portway is committed to a proactive strategy that drives positive change for the planet. We recognise that the climate crisis is a reality and that balancing growing energy needs with decarbonisation is essential. We believe it is possible to transform ground handling operations, making our services—and, in turn, aviation—more sustainable.
Portway is committed to reducing its CO₂ emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. We aim to ensure that our operations have a positive impact on climate action and are aligned with the Paris Agreement, helping to limit global warming to 1.5°C
Investing in the renewal of our fleet with zero-emission, environmentally friendly equipment has been our top priority. On 30 and 31 May 2022, we also demonstrated that it is possible to deliver 100% sustainable ground handling operations in Portugal.
In addition, we are actively working to:
Reduce single-use plastic by providing employees with reusable water bottles;
Reuse and recycle employee uniforms;
Measure and monitor our carbon footprint;
Replace conventional lighting with LED technology;
Test the use of biodiesel across our Ground Support Equipment (GSE) fleet.
Environmental responsibility is at the heart of everything we do, supported by operations powered by innovative zero-emission technologies.
